In the framework of his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko began, on Monday 23 June 2025, the second stage of his stay by a trip in the port city of Tianjin, after a first stopover in Hangzhou. Accompanied by the Vice-Mayor of Tianjin, Wang Baoyu, and the Chinese Ambassador to Senegal, Li Zhigang, the Senegalese government chief visited several strategic infrastructures, witnesses of Chinese technological and industrial know-how. He first visited the green port of Tianjin, one of the largest and most modern in the country, renowned for its logistical efficiency and innovations in respect of the environment. This visit is part of a dynamic cooperation on the modernization of port infrastructures in Senegal. The Prime Minister then visited the Centre de haute technologie industrielle de la ville, a model of integration between training, innovation and industrialisation, before concluding his tour of the Atelier Luban, an internationally renowned technical and professional training centre. This centre, a symbol of Sino-African cooperation in the field of training, is intended to inspire future reforms in Senegal in the field of technical education. Ousmane Sonko will take part, on Wednesday 25 June, in the Davos Summer Forum which will also be held in Tianjin. This global meeting will bring together political leaders, business leaders and experts on the major economic, technological and geostrategic issues of the moment. Senegal’s participation in this event reflects its willingness to participate in the great dynamics of global economic transformation.
