​Diplomatie: the Head of State Diomaye Faye leaves Dakar for the 80th session of the UN 

  The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, left Dakar this morning for New York to take part in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. This major diplomatic meeting is an opportunity for the Head of State to represent Senegal at the highest level and to reaffirm the place of the African continent in world debates. According to the Presidency, the displacement of the Head of State is part of a particularly dense international agenda. “The President will carry the voice of Senegal and defend a vision of a prosperous and sovereign Africa at the heart of the great world debates”, it was stated. The departure of the Head of State took place this morning at Léopold Sédar Senghor military airport, where he was accompanied and greeted by several civil and military authorities. The Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, was also present to show his support for the President before this strategic move. Senegal’s participation in this session of the UN General Assembly is expected to be a highlight of national diplomacy, with expected interventions on crucial issues such as global governance, international peace and security, but also the reform of multilateral institutions.
