In view of the many questions raised after the disappearance of five fishermen in Rufisque, the Ministry of Fisheries, Maritime Infrastructures and Ports issued a communiqué to clarify the situation. It recalls that all the necessary measures had been taken as soon as the information had reached the competent authorities. According to the Ministry, the Directorate of Fisheries Protection and Surveillance (DPSP) had immediately initiated the procedures provided for in such circumstances. Air and naval resources have been deployed to try to locate the missing, but the searches carried out so far have unfortunately not been successful. The authorities assure that they will continue their efforts to resolve the situation and provide support to the families concerned. It also reaffirms its readiness for dialogue and its commitment to work in collaboration with the representatives of the families and the CLPAs (Conseils Locaux de Pêche Artisanale) to find a favourable solution.
