​Djifer: 229 migrants intercepted off the coast of Saint-Louis, a young Guinean woman has died 

  The Senegalese Navy has made a major breakthrough in its fight against illegal immigration. On the 14th of March, 2025, at about 14 o’clock, a patrol off Saint-Louis intercepted a pirogue en route to the Canary Islands. On board: 229 migrants, including 168 boys, 44 girls and 17 minors. This vessel had departed the previous day, 5 March at 23 hours, from the coast of Djifer. 191 Senegalese people. 2 Gambians, 22 Guineans. The operation was, however, marked by a tragedy.
