The tensions between Ghanaian music combo DopeNation and their past brand partner Kuami Eugene are now higher than ever. Following comments made by their previous brand manager, Richie Mensah, their former employer, Richie Mensah, the rift started when DopeNation threw shade at Kuami Eugene in a naughty social media post. Mensah actually confirmed Kuami Eugene’s withdrawal from Lynx Entertainment, where DopeNation and Kuami Eugene had all already started their careers, in an interview with Hitz FM.
DopeNation wished their original labelmates the best of luck in overcoming the so-called” Lynx curse,” which is a conviction shared by fans that artists who leave the brand frequently struggle to produce hit songs and keep their relevance in the Ghanaian music scene. Both events have since exchanged comments on social media after this statement sparked a public dispute.
The pressure continued to escalate when Kuami Eugene just mocked DopeNation, accusing them of chasing social advertising strength with a “gym song”, which led to DopeNation’s blazing response. In response to earlier accusations that Kuami Eugene had borrowed music and songs without right breaks, they made a shot at Kuami Eugene’s style and warned him against stealing songs from other artists in their blog.
Fans have been divided over the drama, with some taking sides while others calling for collaboration and unity among Ghanaian artists.
