A tragedy occurred on Sunday in Koungheul, one of the three departments of the Kaffrine region. Three young boys have lost their lives by drowning in a vast pool of water situated behind the central market of the city. According to E-media information, reprinted by L’Observateur, the victims were buried in a large hole filled with water, probably dug and fed by the recent heavy rains. The exact circumstances of the tragedy remain unclear. The firefighters, quickly dispatched to the scene, were unfortunately unable to retrieve the bodies of the young men. They were then transferred to the hospital. An investigation has been opened to shed light on the precise causes of this tragedy which plunges the commune of Koungheul into a deep sadness.
