
A driver has been confirmed dead and four others severely injured in a road accident that occurred at the Lifemate axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident involved a white Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number ABC 836 EF and a DAF truck with number plate DTF 997 XA.
According to the spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the jeep crashed into the back of the moving truck at about 7 a.m on Wednesday.
He stated that the DAF truck loaded with cocoa, had three adult male occupants, while the jeep had five adult male occupants.
He said, “Unfortunately, out of the five occupants in the vehicle, the driver lost his life while others were injured.”
“The relatives (brothers) of the deceased, who were present at the scene, arranged for an ambulance and initially conveyed him to the police station before proceeding to take him to their hometown,” Akinbiyi added.
Meanwhile, the agency extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and cautioned drivers against speeding excessively, emphasizing the value of patience, particularly as it is starting to rain.
