Public affairs analyst and investor, Uzochukwu Akunedozi has urged Nigerians to imbibe the attitude of value addition to the end the country’s economy difficulties rather than criticize the government.
He disclosed this speaking with journalists at the weekend on the sidelines of Easter celebrations.
According to him, there is no time the country’s situation has been ‘better’ than it is at the moment.
“There’s no time; the situation of the country has been better than it is now. Things have always been like this,” he said.
Akunedozi acknowledged the challenges in Nigeria but expressed optimism that the country’s problems will be addressed.
He explained that rather than focusing solely on criticism of those in power, individuals and business owners should prioritize adding value to the system.
“As business people, what we strive for is not just to criticize whoever is in power, but to add value to whatever is going on in Nigeria,” he added.
He noted that while it is necessary to hold government accountable, saying if everyone adds necessary value in their respective enterprises, the economic hardship would reduce.
“Yes, definitely; they have a job to do, and we should hold them accountable… But beyond that, personally, I look inward.
“I believe in doing something different to add value to the environment that I find myself in,” he said.
He further emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens in easing the economic burden on the government by contributing in their own capacity.
“If each and every one of us…decides to add value one way or the other—we are over 250 million people in Nigeria—if 50 million people, or even less, even 10 million people, can decide to add value… I think the pressure, the burden, will reduce a great deal on the government,” he stated.
He urged Nigerians to strike a balance between demanding accountability and actively supporting efforts to improve the country’s economic situation.
DAILY POST reports that while the inflation rate stood at 15.06 percent in February 2026, the cost of living has continued to rise for majority Nigerians.
