The Ebonyi State Government has reported significant progress in the installation and electrical connection of airfield lighting, with plans to fully resume operations at Chuba Okadigbo International Airport by August 2025. Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, the Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, announced this in a statement to the press in Abakaliki on Saturday. She highlighted that the specialists working on the airfield lighting installation, alongside other engineers, are making rapid advancements and aim to complete the electricity connection within two weeks. She encouraged travelers from Ogeb, Obubra, Itigidi, Boki, Okigwe, as well as those from Abia, Abuja, and Lagos State to buy tickets and utilize the Chuba Okadigbo Airport in Onueke, Ezza South LGA. The statement included: “The team is working swiftly to finalize the installation and connect the airfield lighting system to the electrical grid within the two-week timeframe.
