Eight individuals, including a one-month-old infant, lost their lives in a collision between an Urvan bus and a truck on the Tema-Akosombo Highway.  

Eight people were killed, including a newborn baby and its mother, when two cars collided on the Tema-Akosombo Highway in the Eastern Region.
According to reporting to UTV, a Toyota Hiace minivan with registration number GR 53 21-2022 was traveling from Kpone to Accra when it found itself stuck behind a man diesel truck.
The driver of the passenger van reportedly decided to overtake the man diesel truck which was being driven by one Fuseini Issa, with registration number AS 80 54 – 18 that was also headed to Accra after taking off from Kpandai.
Tragically, the minivan ended up colliding into the back of the truck with the impact completely leaving it crumbled into tiny pieces.
Eight people, all in the passenger car, were killed instantly in the collision. According to UTV’s reporter, Michael Akrofi, the deseaced included a new mother and her 1-month-old baby. 6 other people survived. It’s unclear if the driver of the minivan was part of the survivees.
Road accidents continue to remain rampant on Ghana’s roads, particularly during long-distance trips where drivers of passenger vehicles attempt constant overtaking. Aside from the bad nature of Ghanaian roads, refusal to heed to road traffic laws continues to remain the most frequent cause of such costly road traffic accidents.
