A non-profit organization, Yiaga Africa, says the part of the Electoral Act to revert to Form EC8A where electronic transmission fails creates further confusion.
Africa Program Coordinator of the group, Faruk Ibrahim, made this statement on Wednesday when he featured in an interview on Arise Television.
He was reacting to the passage of the Electoral Amendment Act by the National Assembly and the subsequent signing into law by President Bola Tinubu.
Reacting, Ibrahim said, “The part of the Act that says we revert to Form EC8A where electronic transmission fails further creates confusion.
“We do not know the hierarchy and legitimacy if this goes to court. If electronic transmission fails, which takes hierarchy? Is it the electronic version or the manual version?
“And a lot of these advocates for credible elections have been that we need to use more technology to ensure that there’s credibility of the process.”
