​Employment trends in Senegal: participation declines, unemployment falls in the second quarter of 2025 

  According to the latest report of the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD), new data on the Senegalese labour market in the second quarter of 2025 show a decrease in the overall participation rate and a slight improvement in the unemployment rate. The survey reveals marked disparities between young people and adults, as well as between men and women, and between urban and rural environments. Reduced participation in the labour market. During the second quarter of 2025, only 56.5% of people of working age (4 years and older) participated in the labour market, which represents a decrease of 1.1 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024.
