The Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, left Istanbul for Dakar, this Monday 11 August 2025, after a five-day official visit to Turkey, at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the APS, “the head of the Senegalese government was accompanied to his plane by his host, who renewed his friendship and brotherhood in his own name and in the name of the Turkish people”. The Minister for the Armed Forces, Birame Diop, the Minister for the Economy, Planning and Cooperation, Abdourahmane Sarr, and the Minister for African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, were also part of the delegation of the Senegalese Government Chief. The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Serigne Guèye Diop, the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, Mabouba Diagne, and the Directors General were also present. According to APS, after two days in Ankara, the Senegalese Prime Minister and his delegation had travelled to Istanbul where Ousmane Sonko presided over the Senegalese-Turkish Business Forum, which was attended by 300 investors, including 50 from Senegal.
