Former Chelsea midfielder, Glenn Hoddle has criticized defender, Wesley Fofana for his display during the Blues’ Premier League 3-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday.
Hoddle pinpointed a moment early in the match when Fofana carelessly surrendered possession before being bypassed entirely—an error that, in his view, shaped the rest of the game.
“It’s not by chance,” Hoddle said on Premier League Productions.
“Fofana in the first couple of minutes gave the ball away, and then he goes past the ball, and Everton should really have scored. That is not a standard you can have if you are a Chelsea player,” he said.
Goals from Beto (two) and Iliman Ndiaye sealed a comfortable victory for David Moyes’ Everton against Liam Rosenior’s side.
Fofana, 25, who joined Chelsea from Leicester City in 2022, endured a particularly difficult evening in the heavy defeat.
