Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has suggested that Arsenal should let go of their manager Mikel Arteta if he fails to secure the Premier League title this season. Obi Mikel pointed out that Arsenal has invested £800 million in transfers since Arteta became head coach in December 2019. The manager, who previously served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, has not managed to clinch the Premier League title with Arsenal, despite coming close in the last two seasons, finishing as runners-up to Man City. In his comments on the Obi One Podcast, Mikel dismissed the chances of Arsenal winning the title this year, stating, “It’s Liverpool’s to lose.” I believe Arsenal won’t win it. If Mikel Arteta doesn’t secure the league title next season, I believe he should depart from the club. It’s been nearly seven seasons, and he has invested around 800 million. I doubt they will win the league this season. “If he doesn’t win it next season, I believe he should resign because City will be back.” Arsenal is currently in second place in the Premier League standings. The Gunners trail leaders Liverpool by 6 points after 20 matches. The Reds, on the other hand, are one game ahead.
