A former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Akinjide made this announcement on Monday via a letter addressed to the chairman of the party in her ward in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The letter was made available to DAILY POST on Monday evening.
The former minister, in the letter, cited personal reflection as the reason for her decision.
She added that the resignation took effect immediately.
She said, “I hereby formally give you notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.
“This decision was not taken lightly, given the fact that I have been a member of the party since 2001.”
DAILY POST gathered that Akinjide’s father, late Chief Richard Akinjide, served as Minister of Justice during the Second Republic led by late Alhaji Shehu Shagari.
He was the one who introduced the motion of 12/3 at the Supreme Court, which made Shagari win the court case on his electoral victory in 1979.
