Exclusive: Sonko shorted his leave, Diomaye called an emergency meeting

According to exclusive information from Babacar Touré, director general of Kéwoulo, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, had a long conversation on Sunday evening during a meeting described as “intense” and decisive. This exchange, which lasted several hours, would have allowed to dissipate the tensions that were feeding these last days various speculations about a malaise at the top of the executive. Following this interview, Ousmane Sonko resumed his activities in the Primate on Tuesday 18 November 2025, according to information reported by Babacar Touré. Contrary to some rumors announcing a planned move to Ziguinchor, this visit would have been finally cancelled. On the other hand, Babacar Touré indicated that several deputies of the Pastef party are currently at the Palais de la République for a meeting with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Their presence would aim to contribute to the definitive settlement of the situation, in a spirit of institutional consultation.
