Nigeria’s Flying Eagles intend to hold a friendly match against Zambia as they prepare for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. The team, led by Aliyu Zubairu, arrived in Cairo for the tournament on Sunday. In a recent friendly match on Tuesday, they achieved a 2-1 victory over the host nation, Egypt, at the Cairo International Stadium. Plans are underway for another friendly before the competition kicks off. “We are continuing discussions with Zambia for one more friendly match,” said Shariff Abdallah, the team’s media officer, to Completesports. The team performed admirably against Egypt and has adapted comfortably to life in Cairo. “We have thoroughly prepared for this competition and we hope to take home the trophy by the end of the day.” The Flying Eagles have been placed in Group B alongside Tunisia, Morocco, and Kenya. Meanwhile, Zambia will be in Group A with Egypt, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Zambia. Nigeria’s opening match will be against Tunisia next Thursday, followed by matches against Morocco and Kenya.
