The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught his companions to put their trust in God when they are tested. Suffering allows the believer to reach a level of spiritual elevation where he fully assumes the difficulties. He can doubt himself, but never doubt God. In the Islamic tradition, the test is not tragic: it is a school of humility and recognition of the Creator. Faith in God enabled him to control and overcome the difficult situations. We must, in all circumstances, be patient, endure, persevere and never despair of God.
