The detention of Farba Ngom, mayor of Agnam and cadre of the APR is still at the heart of concerns. Three human rights organisations, namely the Senegalese League for the Defence of Human Rights (LSDH), the African Rally for the Defence of Human Rights (RADDHO) and Amnesty International Senegal, have called for her provisional release. Incarcerated since February 2025 in a money laundering case estimated at 125 billion CFA francs, traced by CENTIF, M. Ngom sees his situation complicated by his state of health. In a joint communiqué, the NGOs recall “that a medical counter-expertise commissioned by the justice concluded that his detention is incompatible with his physical state. I’m not sure. The three structures therefore call on the judicial authorities to take account of these conclusions and to examine with diligence the new application for provisional release lodged by his lawyers. They underline that respect for human rights requires that prisoners be guaranteed effective access to care and to conditions of detention that are in accordance with standards. ”
