  ​Farba Ngom case: What is known about the conclusions of the ad hoc Commission 

  The question of the waiver of the parliamentary immunity of Mr Farba Ngom was raised on Thursday evening by Mr Mouhamed Ayib Salim Daffé, President of the Pastef Les Patriotes parliamentary group. He said that the importance of strictly respecting the legal procedures by the ad hoc commission and the National Assembly. According to him, after examining the dossier, the Commission recommended the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of Farba Ngom, specifying that the National Assembly is neither a tribunal nor a place of judgment, but an organ responsible for verifying the compliance of the application with the laws, the internal regulations and the Constitution. He assured that all the procedural steps had been respected. It recommends the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of Farba Ngom, and we are assured that all the stages have been respected. The Member is not above the law. We are in a state of law, and it is our responsibility to respect this framework”, he said, particularly hammering on the Rts. He also recalled that, as representatives of the people, the deputies are not above the laws. “We who vote the laws, we must also accept to respond to the judicial institutions”, he insisted, stressing that the main thing is respect for rights and the absence of accounting regulations.
