Father Christmas arrested for child pornography offenses

Authorities in Mercer County, New Jersey, have arrested Mark Paulino, 64, a retired elementary school teacher and Santa performer, on charges related to possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, led by Janetta Marbrey, confirmed the arrest, stating that Paulino faces multiple charges, including second-degree distribution of child sexual abuse material, second-degree possession with intent to distribute, third-degree possession, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigators revealed that the probe began on December 4, after the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit flagged uploads of child pornography traced to Paulino’s Hamilton Township residence.

Subsequent investigation identified him as the source of the material.

Prosecutors noted that Paulino, who recently retired from the Hamilton Township School District, also maintained a website promoting his services as a Santa performer for private, corporate, and community events.

Given his direct interactions with children in this role, detectives moved swiftly to secure a search warrant.

The warrant was executed on December 5, resulting in Paulino’s arrest and the seizure of multiple items from his home. He was taken into custody without incident.

According to CBS News, Paulino could face five to ten years in prison for the second-degree offenses, with fines potentially reaching $150,000. A motion has been filed to keep him detained pending the continuation of legal proceedings.

The Hamilton Township School District declined to comment when contacted.

Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information or past concerns involving the suspect to come forward, emphasizing that the investigation remains ongoing.
