Tsakani- A game played recently by the U17 teams FC Nomayini and 17 Masters FC began at a fast pace, with both teams attacking one another.
The heated game took place at the Ext 13 Ground in Tsakani.
FC Nomayini dominated the game and scored five goals within the first half, which had supporters cheering from all corners of the ground.
U17 FC Nomayini goalkeeper Kamohelo Mofokeng spoke on behalf of the coach, describing the game as intense and saying they dominated the game.
“We played a victorious game which boosted our confidence and made us love soccer even more.
“We have won no games in a long time, and winning this one with such a high score made us realise we can do well if we put our minds into what we do.
“We communicated well, reshuffled some of our positions and attacked as much as possible.
“The support we received during this specific game was overwhelming and made us feel appreciated, recognised and supported,” explains Nkosi.
The team scored three more goals within the second half and won the game with a score of 8-1.
Joyful about their performance, they stated their aim to win more games in the future.
17 Masters FC coach Bongani Nkosi said the game was a learning curve for his U17 team, saying this is his newly developed team.
“We aimed through the game to observe their abilities and challenges. The game also exposed hidden talents and showed me each player’s weaknesses and what to focus on during practice.
“The first step is to build teamwork and communication and end the spirit of self-blame. They must unite during games and stop pointing fingers at each other when we are not doing well,” said Nkosi.
He added he was beyond pleased to have played the game and intended to return to the drawing board, finding ways to encourage team effort.
