Belfast – Seven people died in a head-on collision between Belfast and Machadodorp outside Middleburg, Mpumalanga.
The collision, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 27 December 2025, involved two sedans.
A person who survived the crash with serious injuries was taken to Belfast Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have withheld the names of the deceased until their next of kin have been notified of the tragedy.
Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Jackie Macie said: “We are again appealing to motorists to be extremely vigilant, especially at night when visibility is reduced.
“Roads are shared spaces and drivers must do all in their might to prevent needless loss of life from deadly crashes.”
MEC Macie has sent condolences to the affected families and wished the injured person a speedy recovery.
