In the context of its strategy to secure the national territory, the Haut-commandement de la Gendarmerie nationale has launched, since 18 April 2025, a vast operation called Fanganta 3, in the Kédougou region, located in the southeast of the country. This operation aims to reinforce the fight against insecurity by attacking areas identified as criminogenic, notably around clandestine gold mining sites. As of 20 April, a first balance sheet showed significant results, with the dismantling of several diouras (gold-mining camps) and clandestine bars in the areas of Bougouda and Bantaco. The seizures made at this stage of the operation comprise: 72 electrical groups. 55 marteaux-piqueurs. 5 solar panels. 10 cans of 20 litres of gas oil.
