According to the Director of Customs Operations, Ousmane KANE, these appreciable results were made possible by the guidance of the authorities, the commitment of customs agents, the reinforcement of the logistical resources of the customs units and the collaboration of the various other Defence and Security Forces and international partners such as UNODC. “The Customs Administration remains committed to the fight against drug trafficking”, added the DOD, while inviting the public to cooperate more closely with the Customs for greater efficiency in the execution of the service. The Director of Customs Operations, Ousmane KANE, expressed his gratitude to all the services and partners who contributed to the success of this incineration operation, in particular SOCOCIM, which put its facilities at the disposal of the Customs. For Madame Digou Yala Mathilde SADIO, Deputy to the Governor of the Dakar Region in charge of Development, “the act of incineration this morning is certainly symbolic, but recalls the commitment of the State to fight fiercely against drug trafficking”. She welcomed the presence and collaboration of all the services, which, according to her, testifies to the synergy of action of the State’s dismemberments in the ongoing crusade against the plague. The Regional Directors of the Customs of Dakar-Port and Dakar Ouest and the Head of the Tambacounda Subdivision, whose units seized more than half of the quantity of cocaine incinerated, also took part in the operation.
