Football: Aliou Cissé, new coach of the Libyan team with a goal for CAN 2027

Aliou Cissé has found an agreement with the Libyan Football Federation to become the selector of Libya, according to the vice-president of the Libyan Football Federation, Fawzi Jaouda. He is expected to sign a two-year contract on 5 March, with the main objective of qualifying the team for the 2027 African Cup of Nations. Although Libya is currently well placed in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Cissé will not be judged on a possible non-qualification. His first challenge will be the match against Angola on 19 March. In 2022, Aliou Cissé made the history of Senegalese football by winning the first African Cup of Nations in Senegal. This victory came to erase the disappointment of 2019, where Senegal had lost in the final against Algeria of Djamel Belmadi. This success reinforced his status as an emblematic figure of African football.
