Officers from the Ago-Iwoye Division of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended an ex-convict named Kokumo Olatunbosun for suspected theft, burglary, and property damage in the Imoro area of Ago-Iwoye. Olatunbosun was caught after he broke into a residence and stole items worth N1,000,300. The incident was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who stated that the suspect, a former inmate with two previous convictions, had been posing as someone named Adebayo Wasiu before his arrest. Odutola mentioned that the suspect allegedly entered the house while the family was at church. He used pliers to cut the electric wire atop a tall fence, jumped into the yard, and got into the house through a window. She mentioned that when the suspect noticed the family had come back from church, he concealed himself in their storeroom. Odutola stated: “He broke into a residence in the Imoro area of Ago-Iwoye, used pliers to cut the electric wire on a high fence worth N700,000, and accessed the compound by climbing over the fence. He damaged the window security bars valued at N110,000, broke louvers worth N50,000, entered through the window, and stole jewelry valued at N100,000 along with an iPhone 13 worth N680,000.” She revealed that his arrest was the result of a tip-off, prompting the Kemta Division of the command to quickly take action and capture the suspect. Odutola mentioned that the stolen jewelry had been retrieved, but the iPhone 13 remained unaccounted for. However, she guaranteed that the suspect would be prosecuted once the investigation was complete and that more information would be provided as the case progressed.
