​Former Nigeria Boxing Champion Collapses, Dies During Fight In Ghana    

 

A former Nigeria National and West African light-heavyweight champion, Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju, has died after collapsing during a fight in Ghana on Saturday.. The unfortunate incident which captured Olanrewaju collapsing was shared in a viral video.. According to reports Olanrewaju was fighting against Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu at Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League at Bukom Boxing Arena when he suddenly lost consciousness.. It was reported that he was ahead on points against his Ghanaian opponent before the sad incident occurred.. Born in Lagos, the 40-year-old began his professional career in 2019 where he overcame Chukwuma Igwe in his first bout.. In his professional career, he recorded 13 wins, with 12 coming via knockouts, suffered eight defeats and had two draws.. Heading into Saturday’s fight with Mbanugu on Saturday he had lost his last four bouts.
