Free registration of two-wheelers: the State grants two additional months to motorcyclists

The campaign for the free registration of two-wheelers permitted the registration of an unprecedented number of vehicles in a short period of time. ” However, in view of the large number of applications in regional services and the many pending applications, the Prime Minister has consented to an exceptional extension of two months, until 25 May 2025. “We are not prepared to accept any further extension beyond this date”, announced the Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport, Yankoba Diémè. The Minister therefore invites all owners of two-wheelers who have not yet done so to report immediately to the competent services to register their motorcycle. “This is a second chance to comply with legal requirements without risking fines or the pure and simple immobilization of their vehicle by the forces of defense and security. From 25 May 2025, no derogation or tolerance will be granted”, it said. In addition, as of 25 May 2025, the Minister in Charge of Land and Air Transport stated, any unregistered motorcycle will be considered an “infraction” and will be subject to immediate sanctions, including fines and immobilization of the vehicle by the Defense and Security Forces.
