Gestion de la Ville de Dakar: Pape Alioune Gningue has called for a total reform of the city.

Pape Alioune Gningue, municipal councillor of the City of Dakar, deputy mayor of the commune of Grand Yoff and secretary general of the 202 deputy mayors of the Dakar department, called for a profound reform of the management of the mairie. In an exchange with the media, this member of Malick Gakou’s Grand Parti highlighted the current challenges, including the city’s debt, wage arrears and the challenges related to the organisation of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) 2026. He welcomes the fact that this period has allowed a “profound rupture in the political management of Senegal”. For him, the future of municipal governance should be aligned with the National Agenda for Transformation 2050, a strategy to reorient economic and social policies towards sustainable development. Pape Alioune Gningue highlighted the inconsistencies of the previous management concerning the JOJ. According to him, “the organization of the Olympic Games is the exclusive responsibility of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and not of the local federations”. He recalls that the State of Senegal has already invested 35 billion CFA francs (approximately 60 million dollars), while the CIO supports 52% of the overall budget of 171 million dollars. Dakar will host 200 delegations and 2 700 athletes, with the renovation of sports infrastructures and the mobilisation of 6 000 young people in the organisation.
