Ghana and Egypt have released their inflation data for December, while Nigeria is still waiting for its figures.

Ghana and Egypt have revealed their inflation rates for December, while Nigeria anticipates its own announcement. Samuel Kobina Annim, a statistician at the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), reported that Ghana’s consumer inflation rate increased to 23.8 percent in December, rising from 23 percent in November. This marks the fourth consecutive month of increasing inflation for Ghana and the highest rate observed in eight months. Annim mentioned that this inflation rate is the third highest in the past 13 months. Meanwhile, Egypt experienced a decline in its inflation rate, which dropped to 24.1 percent in December, down from 25.5 percent. The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics stated that this is the lowest inflation data in two years for Egypt. Nigeria is expected to release its December Consumer Price Index and inflation figures between January 14 and 15, 2025. According to DAILY POST, inflation in Nigeria has been steadily rising, reaching 34.60 percent in November 2024, driven by persistent increases in food prices, which were at 39.93 percent in November, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. As Nigerians wait for the latest inflation data from the NBS, it was reported that the agency’s website has been offline since it was hacked on December 18 of last year.
