Gov Uba Sani advises the Northwest Development Commission (NWDC) to work together with governors, warning that without their collaboration, success will be elusive.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State urged the North West Development Commission to work closely with the state governors in the region to achieve success. During a courtesy visit from the commission’s board, chaired by Lawal Abdullahi, the governor highlighted that the elected governors are aware of the shortcomings in the area. He stated that if the commission develops initiatives independently of the governors, without a shared agenda or collaboration, they are unlikely to succeed. He emphasized that programs lacking the governors’ input would not be embraced by the people, leading to a lack of support despite their well-intentioned design. He emphasized the importance of the Commission performing a needs assessment to understand the people’s desires, which should involve holding town hall meetings and gathering feedback from the Governors, expressing their commitment to offer full support. “While I recognize you’re talking to relevant stakeholders, it’s crucial to note that the Governors are the key figures in this vital matter,” he remarked. Governor Uba Sani encouraged the Board to create their programs so that the North West Governors could discuss and provide input where necessary. Alhaji Lawal Samaila Abdullahi, the board chairman, assured Governor Uba Sani of the Commission’s dedication to the Governors of their geopolitical zone, clarifying that the Commission’s role revolves around “intervention, collaboration, and support.” He stated their readiness to assist in all areas of national development beneficial to the public, guided by the Governors. He expressed confidence that most obstacles have been effectively addressed and that they would soon be fully operational as they work towards launch. Lawal committed to engaging with the Governors, through Governor Uba Sani, to develop a 10-year Development Plan that would be jointly realized.
