The former Prime Minister of the deposed President, Alpha Condé, Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, was sentenced on 27 February to five years in prison by the Court for the Suppression of Economic and Financial Offences (Crief). He was found guilty of illicit enrichment, embezzlement of public funds and money laundering. In addition to his prison sentence, the former head of government will have to pay a fine of 220 000 euros and risks losing a large part of his assets. The Guinean State has decided to seize the integrity of its savings accounts. In addition, he will have to pay nearly two million euros: 1.6 million for the reimbursement of the embezzled sums and the remaining damages and interests in favour of the Guinean State.
