The European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (CORT) has adopted a resolution on the situation in the European Union. In a post on his Facebook page, l’élu de Pastef affirms that it “seemed” to him that the former minister had acquired five small planes of less than twenty seats, at an estimated cost of five billion CFA francs per unit. According to Guy Marius Sagna, the National Assembly will shortly be seized of this question. It mentions the possibility of an alleged misappropriation of public funds through overcharging, if this information were to be confirmed. “This may be one of the reasons for his flight”, writes the deputy, alluding to the departure of Doudou Ka to the foreign country for several weeks. The parliamentarian goes further by extending his criticism to what he considers to be a system of media protection granted to former political leaders who are in question. “A part of the Senegalese press is at the service of these fugitives, of these oppressors, of these thieves”, he denounces, before comparing the situation to the role played, according to him, by certain neocolonial relais in other African countries. In his message, Guy Marius Sagna drew a parallel between Senegal and countries such as Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali, where, he said, “the neo-colonialism uses terrorists as auxiliaries to bring these countries back into the fold of Françafrique”. In Senegal, he continues, this role would be assumed by “certain journalists and press organs” which he accuses of having become “neocolonial auxiliaries”. The MEP concludes by calling for a national reflection on the means of “reducing the capacity of neocolonial nuisance” of these actors, while specifying that “sincere” journalists can share, sometimes despite them, editorial lines defending these interests.
