Liz Sanya, a British-Nigerian shoe designer, has successfully completed her endeavor to set a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the largest sandal. The enormous pink clog measures 3.156 meters (10 ft 4.2 in) in width and 8.147 meters (13 ft 8.8 in) in length. Sanya began designing the sandal on January 2, 2025, after receiving confirmation from GWR, and finished it on January 4. The 72-hour event took place at Pixel Park in Lekki, Lagos, and was attended by several celebrities, including Pheelz, Mayorkun, Korty EO, and P.Prime. The current record is held by a group of artisans from Municipio De Sahauyo, with a sandal measuring 7.45 meters (24 ft 5.31 in) long and 3.09 meters (10 ft 1.65 in) wide. Speaking about her attempt, Sanya expressed her gratitude to her supporters and mentioned that she chose to pursue the record in Nigeria due to her connection to the country, stating, “I’ll never be able to put into words what any of this means to me.” All of this wouldn’t have been achievable without the support and kindness of those who share my vision. “Ibadan is my birthplace.” I found my inspiration in Lagos. Returning home to demonstrate it was the only fair thing to do. “One world record to break, in 72 hours.”
