The City of Ekurhuleni is calling on residents to comment on a proposed new by-law called the ‘draft by-laws for arts, culture and heritage facilities’.

The proposed by-law should be of interest to those who usually hire the city’s facilities for events, functions and shows.

According to the draft document, “the aim and purpose of this by-law is to set a standard of uniform rules for the hiring of all arts, culture and heritage facilities of the city by members of the public and other organs of state.”

The current version of the by-law came into effect on February 28, 2007. The public is encouraged to make their voices heard by submitting suggestions or comments to the proposed by-law.

Either hand deliver a comment or suggestion at any of the city’s libraries, CCC, or art facility, or email them to [email protected] or [email protected]

The city’s residents have until January 30 to submit their comments.

Visit the city’s website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za and search for CoE-Draft-Culture-And-Heritage-Facilities-By-Laws-Final to read the full draft of the proposed by-law.
