Former Chief of Staff of the Army, Brigadier General Souleymane Kandé will take office as of 1 March 2025 as the new Attaché de Défense et de Sécurité at the Embassy of Senegal in India. He took the place of Abdoulaye Traoré. Le général Kandé had been promoted chef d’état-major de l’armée de terre (CEMAT) in October 2022 by the former president of Senegal, Macky Sall. He commanded and coordinated the Special Operations Division, being in the front line of the fight against the troops of the Mouvement des forces démocratiques de la Casamance (MFDC). Insufficient to make recall the new authorities, who have confirmed its taking office as of 1 March next.
