In a tour of the Kaffrine region (Centre Ouest), Anta Babacar Ngom Diack has officially announced his definitive departure from the Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR), a coalition born in the opposition. The president of the Alternative for the Relève Citoyenne (ARC) thus affirms her will to trace a path for her political movement. “I leave the FDR for good”, she declared to her supporters, affirming that this choice, matured over several months, was part of a clear will to “construct a new political identity based on proximity, listening and another way of doing politics”. While reaffirming her opposition roots, Anta Babacar Ngom Diack says she is now 100% committed to the ARC project, a party she wants resolutely turned towards youth, women, and long-marginalized territories. “The ARC intends to assume fully its autonomy and to take root in the realities of the country”, she underlined. This tour in the heart of Senegal aims to strengthen the party’s bases and consolidate a citizen movement capable of carrying the deep aspirations of the populations. As regards the national dialogue, the President of the ARC announced that internal consultations would be held in the near future to define a clear position.
