The All Progressives Congress, APC, has expressed shock and sadness over the death of one of its chieftains, Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, who passed away at the age of 54.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party described the late Dunkwu as an energetic, selfless and loyal member who played a significant role in building and strengthening the party in his native Ika Federal Constituency and beyond.
According to the statement, until his death on March 7, 2026, Dunkwu served as Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
The party noted that he previously served as Special Adviser on Members’ Affairs to the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The APC further highlighted Dunkwu’s contributions beyond politics, noting that he was a Knight of Saint Christopher, KSC, and President of the Nigerian Aquatics Federation.
The party said Dunkwu lived a vibrant life of service and philanthropy that impacted many within and outside his homeland, adding that his passing has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
The APC prayed for God to grant his immediate family the strength to bear the loss and comfort members of the party in Ika Federal Constituency, Delta State, and across the country during the period of mourning.
