Head of Service provides update on fire incident at Federal Secretariat 

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has issued a response regarding the fire incident that occurred at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II, Abuja on Monday.

The fire, which was detected in the early hours of Monday, impacted the 4th Floor of Block C, which houses the National Board for Technology Incubation.

A statement released by Mrs Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, indicated that upon detection, the building’s emergency protocols were promptly activated.

Personnel from the Federal Fire Service, along with other relevant emergency response agencies, were reported to have quickly mobilized to the location.

“Their professional and timely intervention effectively contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the building,” the statement noted.

It further confirmed that no casualties occurred as a result of the incident, and all staff members on the affected floor were safely evacuated without any injuries.

“The safety and well-being of all civil servants and visitors is our top priority,” the statement emphasized.

The statement informed that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, while performing an on-site assessment of the situation, praised the Federal Fire Service and all emergency responders for their quick and effective response in managing the incident.

She assured that a comprehensive investigation would be carried out to identify the immediate cause of the fire to prevent future occurrences and to evaluate the structural integrity of the building.

“After the fire was contained, necessary precautionary measures have been put in place to secure the affected area. A thorough assessment is currently in progress to determine the extent of the damage to the property,” the statement said.
