A devastating flames pandemic at the Kisseman Junction slum near Achimota-Samodak has claimed the life of a four-month-old child and destroyed over 20 wooden structures. The flames, which broke out in the first days of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, left some people displaced and in horror.
The Legon and Abelemkpe Fire Stations ‘ firefighters quickly arrived, according to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service ( GNFS), arriving at 04 :24 hours, or 12 minutes after receiving the distress call at 04 :12. Their rapid reaction helped reduce the fire from spreading to near structures, including a warehouse. Yet, despite their efforts, the child could not be saved. The authorities have turned over the baby’s scorched remains to them for further investigation.
