Heavy Rains: SANParks Warns Kruger National Park Visitors To Be ‘Extremely Cautious’

Johannesburg – The management at Kruger National Park (KNP) has warned visitors to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains continue to affect the region.

In a terse statement on Monday, 22 December 2025, SANParks said the wet weather has led to hazardous driving conditions, and as a result, most roads within the park will remain closed until further notice.

Guests were strongly advised to avoid low water bridges as they may be submerged or unsafe to cross.

They were also warned to refrain from using dirt roads, which have become slippery and impassable in many areas.

SANParks said visitors to the park must strictly adhere to road closures and signage implemented for public safety.

“The safety of our guests, staff and wildlife remains our highest priority,” the statement said.

“Park management is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as conditions change.

“Visitors are encouraged to remain patient and vigilant, and to plan their movements carefully during this period.

“We thank all guests for their cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure a safe experience in the park.”

SANParks said it will continue posting updates on the SANParks – Kruger National Park Facebook group and all other platforms as and when information changes.

However, all access gates into Kruger National Park are open, and for tourist enquiries, please contact each camp directly.
