Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has expressed that his football idol is former club player Neymar. Yamal described the Brazilian as a legend and distinct from other players. The Spain international also shared his experience meeting Neymar, who now plays for the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. “Neymar has always been my idol… a star, a legend,” Yamal told CNN. “I was five when I first saw Neymar at Santos and seven when I saw him at Camp Nou.” It was amazing! “Yes, Messi was present and he was amazing too, but Ney was completely different.” Yamal has made a strong impact since joining Barcelona’s first team. He also contributed to Spain’s victory in the 2024 Euros held in Germany. At just 17 years old, he is considered the top young footballer globally. Yamal ranked 8th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or power rankings.
