Houleye Mané et Fatima Kide portent plainte contre le groupe Walfadjri pour diffamation et abus de pouvoir

Two prominent figures of independent journalism in Senegal, Houleye Mané and Fatima Kide, have announced that they have lodged a complaint against the Walfadjri media group. They accuse the latter of defamation and abuse of power in an alleged attempt to suppress their YouTube channel “Jotaayu Justice”. This case brought to light the growing tensions between traditional media and online content creators in the country. In a communiqué published on social networks, the two women explain having created and developed their chain with “seriousness and determination”. Specialized in reviews of judicial press and analyses on sensitive cases, “Jotaayu Justice” has today more than 72 700 subscribers and more than 7 million cumulative views, according to public data available on YouTube. However, for more than three months, the Walfadjri group, one of the main Senegalese media actors known for its television and radio, had reported the channel to YouTube, demanding its suppression.
