Nigerian international and Victor Osimhen has opened up about the severity of the facial injury he suffered during a match, revealing that doctors inserted multiple screws into his face during corrective surgery.
The Super Eagles forward gave a candid account of the procedure and the challenges he faced during recovery. Osimhen disclosed that surgeons initially considered making external incisions on his face but ultimately chose to operate through his mouth to minimise visible scarring.
According to him, the operation involved the insertion of 18 screws to stabilise fractures sustained after a collision with an opposing player. He described the experience as physically and mentally demanding, noting that the injury significantly impacted his daily life, including his ability to eat comfortably from one side of his mouth.
Osimhen said he still lives with the effects of the injury, including noticeable scars and the presence of metal implants in his face. Despite this, he expressed gratitude for the success of the surgery and credited medical personnel, his support network, and his faith for helping him navigate the difficult period.
