Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, has debunked viral rumours suggesting she has stepped away from international football.

The six-time African Player of the Year made the clarification while speaking to journalists in Morocco following Nigeria’s thrilling 3-2 victory over the host nation in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.

Reacting to the retirement claims, the 30-year-old said, “I don’t know where that came from but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on.”

Despite not being a constant starter in the tournament, Oshoala featured in Nigeria’s final 23-player squad and played a key supporting role throughout the competition.

Since making her international debut in 2013, the Barcelona Femeni striker has etched her name in history books, particularly after her breakout performance in the 2014 U-20 Women’s World Cup and the African Women’s Championship of the same year.

She remains the first African to score in three consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments and now adds a fourth WAFCON title to her collection — having previously won in 2014, 2016, and 2018.
