‘I was called traitor 50 times’ – Mourinho on his red card, clash with Porto’s bench

Benfica coach, Jose Mourinho has spoken about the red card he received during his side’s 2-2 draw with FC Porto in the Portuguese top-flight league on Sunday.

The incident caused a heated exchange with Porto’s coaching staff, which ultimately led to Mourinho’s dismissal.

In the aftermath, Mourinho firmly refuted the referee’s rationale for his dismissal, which was based on claims that he had kicked the ball towards Porto’s bench.

“I wasn’t targeting their bench,” Mourinho stated in his post-game comments.

“I kicked the ball to the stands to give lucky fans a chance (to get a match ball).

Mourinho also took issue with Lino Gondinho, a member of Porto’s coaching team, who reportedly called him a “traitor 50 times” during the game.

“I would like him to explain what I have betrayed. Because I gave all my heart and soul to Porto,” he said.
