On Tuesday, masked federal agents detained New York City comptroller and gubernatorial candidate Brad Lander while he was in court for immigration. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) agents allegedly assaulted Lander in large numbers outside of a federal immigration court, according to photos and video from the chaotic scene. Lopez had appeared at 26 Federal Plaza to watch immigration trials involving people who had been designated for potential imprisonment. When Lander was taken into custody, the Associated Press reported that he was attempting to take someone out of a court while he was being held.
