The administration of US President Donald Trump will begin mass arrests of illegal immigrants across the country on Tuesday, a senior official who will take office said. “Chicago is just one place among others”, Tom Homan, the former director of the agency in charge of border control and immigration (ICE) who will be in charge of borders in the Trump administration, told Fox News on Friday. Le Républicain had promised during his campaign to deport millions of undocumented immigrants in what would be the largest deportation operation of illegal immigrants in the history of the United States. We will allow them to arrest foreign criminals. “What we are saying to ICE is that you will apply the immigration law without apologizing”, said Mr Homan, described by the new president as “tsar des frontières”. According to the Wall Street Journal, citing four people close to the operation, the arrests were to begin Tuesday in Chicago and last “all week”, involving 100 to 200 ICE agents.
